The study mate program was introduced in our university recently and has met with mixed responses, especially criticism of flattering（overseas students. I'm writing here to give my own opinions and make some suggestions.
The program itself can no doubt help foreign students to fit in with new environments and domestic students to learn about foreign cultures. But it is inappropriate to officially recruit study mates for foreigners, let alone listing " making friends with the opposite gender in the recruitment form. A more advisable way lies in（在于）allowing foreign and domestic students to pair（结伴，配对） with each other freely and voluntarily,with the university merely offering necessary help and guidance.
