考博英语：阅读理解中遇到生词怎么办

根据内在逻辑关系推测词义是指运用语言知识分析和判断相关信息之间存在的逻辑关系，然后根据逻辑关系推断生词词义或大致义域。

1、 根据对比关系来猜测词义

在一个句子或段落中，有对两个事物或现象进行对比性的描述，我们可以根据生词或难词的反义词猜测其词义。

例1. Although witnesses vouched that all the members of the czar’s family had been executed, there were rumors suggesting that Anastasia had survived.(武汉大学，2019年，passage 1)

该例中vouched对许多人来说可能是个生词，但是通过句首的although得知，这里有明显的转折关系，再通过主句表示：有传言说安娜斯塔西娅活了下来。然后借助这种转折的关系，我们便能猜出从句应该是表达，目击者肯定或是确信所有人被处决了。从而得知“ vouched”意为保证，确信。

2、根据并列关系来猜测词义

不同于对比关系，并列关系表示意义上的相似关系。

这里的 excoriated 是生词，通过读完整段话，我们可知，这里有并列的关系，那么，我们通过第二句话开头 In criticizing Obama for taking too much time，中的criticizing，能够猜出，criticizing 与 excoriated同为带贬义的词，可以作criticizing的同义词理解。

例2. Overall, half the participants did about as well on the last round of tasting as on the first, so fatigue, or taste burnout, was not a factor. (苏州大学， 阅读真题)

这句话中的burnout，按字面意思理解文烧坏，但综合句子意思，按“烧坏”理解显然不妥当，这是我们就需要借助句子的逻辑关系了，前有“or”，这个词即可表是前后是同义词，也可表达前后是反义词，这要求我们能够根据语境确定到底是那种关系，综合整句意思，“总的来说，一半的参与者在最后一轮品尝中的表现与第一轮差不多，所以疲劳或味觉burnout不是因素。”可得出，burnout 与fatigue 是同一词，理解为疲劳或是being unable to function because of excessive use.

II. 针对性的解释

针对性的解释是作者为了更好的表达思想，在文章中对一些重要的概念、难懂的术语或 词汇等所作的解释。

例1. Men, Women, and the Extreme Male Brain, has labeled the classic female mental process as “empathizing”. He defines empathizing as “the drive to identify another person’s emotions and thoughts, and to respond to these with an appropriate emotion.” (四川大学， 阅读真题)

这句话中的empathizing 乍一看，并不清楚是什么意思，但接下来，就进一步定义了这个词，因此，这个词的意思便是：“the drive to identify another person’s emotions and thoughts, and to respond to these with an appropriate emotion.”，即：“识别另一个人的情绪和想法，并以适当的情绪来回应这些的动力。”也就是我们说的“共情、产生共鸣”。
